Palm Haven historic plaque signing party!

In 2005, the Palm Haven Restoration Committee invited residents to review three approaches to landscaping the area near Palm Haven's central pillar with drought-tolerant plants because the thirsty grass was causing the pillar to sink from the excessive watering schedule. After a few hours of review and a question/answer session, residents voted on the installation that can be seen today. The restoration committee has been holding fundraisers and acquiring grants since that time to complete the project and the only thing left to do is to install a plaque outlining the historic importance of the Palm Haven Historic Conservation Area and the efforts to restore and preserve it for future generations.

The custom bronze plaque includes a replication of the historic Palm Haven logo from 1913 and will be installed on a small pedestal to raise the plaque for better viewing a couple feet off the ground. On Sunday, December 9, 2007, residents came out to sign the back of this plaque with permanent paint markers. When the plaque is permanently installed on its pedestal, the signatures will be sealed in a sort of "time capsule" until some day in the future should it be removed from its base.
Some residents that could not make the signing party are still adding their signatures to the plaque before it is installed. If you wish to add your signature, please CLICK HERE to make arrangements.
The restoration committee hopes to finish installation soon. For more about the history of the Pillar Restoration project, CLICK HERE.
