Waiting Station
(Click pictures to see enlarged view.)

A Waiting Station in the Mission style was erected on an island at the foot of Palm Haven Avenue and the intersection to Bird Avenue. The station faced the Campbell-Los Gatos line of the Peninsular Railway which came from downtown San Jose, down Bird Avenue, turning right on Coe Avenue and proceeding down Lincoln Avenue to downtown Willow Glen.
A petition from the Peninsular Railway to the Railroad Commission of California signed November 14, 1922 resolved to shut down this portion of the railway - instructing people to use the Delmas/Willow line instead. The Peninsular Railway was in serious financial trouble by this time due to the growth of automobile use and reported losses of $362,536.02 for the year ending 1921. L. D. Bohnett (940 Plaza Drive) represented neighborhood users in an effort to try to convince the Railroad Commission to deny the request to remove the tracks but failed in the end. A ridership report was obtained by L.D. Bohnett as part of making the case to keep the line active. You can see the Palm Haven stop on this report:

When this Waiting Station was removed is currently under research. Palm Haven Avenue was closed to Bird Avenue in 1975 when Bird Avenue was widened.
